It's dried up already, except there are raindrops on a cobweb on a few strawberry leaves in the shade. The roof rafters of our neighbour's new shed got wet, but now it has a waterproof tarpaulin.

Many apples are damaged, pecked by birds for moisture. Flies and bees and wasps like damaged apples. But there are enough apples left for me to stew with blackberries from the hedges. I would like to have some yellow plums, too, but they are gone. Perhaps they were stolen by birds or by squirrels. The squirrels have certainly eaten all the hazel nuts...

I should paint a picture of the odd light. I walked to the sea. Could I find a reflection of the sun in low water, on wet sand? The eclipse was of no interest to that dog. The children were playing in the sand and water without thinking about the eclipse. The little river had less water because the tide had gone out. Perhaps a kite was more interesting than sun, sea and sand to others.

I saw this image on Facebook. Sorry, I don't know the photographer. I couldn't take a photo like that. It needs a static (stationary) camera in one place, taking several shots with regular intervals and a special filter. On the beach I could see the sun with my glasses. The sky did not turn dark, but it was like evening. The birds were confused but it was very beautiful. Unfortunately, my camera is not working today.

There were people in their holidays and local people, like us, who wanted to watch the solar eclipse. When we had arrived it was high tide, the tide was very high. There were waves splashing our feet. We crossed a little wet bridge across the little river to reach the big beach. We found a patch of sand by the little river. The sand was full of people with shelters, from sea to the dunes. We were all waiting for the eclipse.
